Updates From HSEA

86% Said No to the Contract

The Human Cost of Disrespect: Financial Crisis for our Staff

The Cash Reserves Myth: HSE Has the Money

The Message is Clear: HSE Teachers Are Worth More. Teachers were presented with a tentative agreement, and they responded not with compliance, but with a thunderous, unifying declaration: NO.

That 86 percent is more than a statistic; it is a mandate — the sound of a unified association refusing a contract.

The Cash Reserves Myth: HSE Has the Money

While surrounding area schools successfully used cash reserves to fund fair raises for their teachers this year, the HSE Administration refused to use just an additional $1,565,107 to ensure no teacher took home less pay. They only committed $1,098,000 to mitigate some insurance costs, still forcing a loss in take-home pay

The Human Cost of Disrespect: Financial Crisis for our Staff

This is not an abstract financial debate; it is a crisis for our teachers' families.

The proposed contract, with no raise, no step increase, and soaring insurance premiums, results in a devastating effective pay cut for our educators. Our teachers are facing impossible choices and real debt.

So, HSE administration is trying to portray our members as unreasonable or ungrateful for refusing to give up hard-earned benefits — benefits we fought for over many years to ensure that those who dedicate their careers to HSE can retire with dignity.

Now, we are going to ask you to do something that we know will be hard. We know it will be a tough adjustment and may feel uncomfortable. But, we also know it is the strongest action in showing our collective strength.

Back at the Bargaining Table 11/4

Today, our team went back to the bargaining table with a clear goal: to make a tentative agreement that honors, not harms, our staff. We brought a serious proposal, one that reflects your value and the reality of our schools. Our hopes were high that, this time, we'd find a partner in administration.
